ROTARY CLUB OF ABEOKUTA has told Nigerians that planting a tree daily was a great way to helping the environment.

Professor Akin Akinlabi, the Club’s spokesman made the statement available to newsmen in Abeokuta Saturday, August 16, 2020 during the launching of its Tree Planting Project in three secondary schools in Abeokuta earlier in the week.

Rtn. Olukayode Oladipo, Opportunities President, according to the statement, said trees help help clean the air, filter water, absorb carbon, create shade, give birds a place to build a nest, enrich the soil, and provide food and shelter for small creatures, saying that's just the shortlist of the many benefits of trees.

The Club’s tree planting event, which was also used to mark the birthday of the Opportunities President, Rtn. Olukayode Oladipo, took place in Comprehensive Academy, Lafenwa, Taidob College, Asero, and the Rotary House on Abiola Way, all in Abeokuta.

According to Professor Akin Akinlabi, the professor of Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, described the event as awesome as the proprietors of the private secondary schools promised to nurture and ensure all the planted trees were dated and well protected.
