BARING UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, THE WINNERS OF YET TO BE CONDUCTED APC PRIMARIES in the three senatorial districts of Ogun State are already decided in the boardroom of the all Progressives Congress in the State.
The decisions to ratify the three APC candidates were taken at a marathon meeting that began at 10:00am and lasted till about five in the evening Friday, held.at a popular location at Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta.
According to highly placed sources who were privy to the meeting confided in thedispatch that the most difficult decision to make was the one on Ogun West Senatorial District where Gbenga Nasri Isiaka and Senator Adeola, Yayi, are to slog it out between themselves later today.
Issues of concerns, according to the impeccable sources were the fact that Gbenga Isiaka, GNI, is very popular in the senatorial district having contested for governorship thrice. The recent press conference of the leaders of the area led by Senator Iyabo Anisulowo was also considered.
Compensatorily, Gbenga Isiaka is expected to replace the winner of APC ticker for House of Representatives for Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency. The winner of the ticket would be forced to withdraw in order to compensate GNI.
After serious lobby and underhand exchanges, the members of the APC boardroom approved Senator Olamilekan Adeola as the winner of yet to be conducted senatorial primary in Ogun West senatorial district.
Senator Lekan Mustapha, the incumbent Senator who only crossed from Senator Ibikunle Amosun faction of APC to Gov. Dapo Abiodun faction has received the nods of the members of the boardroom which was said to be presided over by Gov Dapo Abiodun,
Reasons adduced to jettison other aspirants in the race for Senate included the efforts to remove sand under the feet of Senator Amosun as the latter was seeing as too egoistic and difficult to tame.
Senator Lekan Mustapha is regarded as a big catch from from SIA fish pond and a strong factor to win the 2023 general election. Though the sources said this decision was also influenced by the aspirant's generousity.
The decision on Ogun Central Senatorial District was easy to take because all the aspirants vying for APC ticket for Senate are weak. Salish Shuaib, Governor Dapo Abiodun's Chief of Staff was easy pick of the powerful APC leaders who decide the destinies of members who aspire for both elective and appointing positions.
Salish Shuaib would be declared the winner of the senatorial primary later today as decided by the Governor and other leaders.
The wisdom of these decisions is yet to be seen. There is no qualms that where such imposition has taken place members of the party are unhappy and raining curses and expletives on their leaders.
