THE HARMONY ESTATE Ikereku Ayedun Laderin Abeokuta Community Development Association (CDA) on Saturday held its First Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking a major milestone in the estate’s collective drive for structured development, improved security, and community welfare.
The AGM, which took place at the NMA Open Field adjacent Captain Oludipe Close along Lycium Nursery and Primary School, attracted officials of the Ogun State Cooperative Federation (OGSCOFED), representatives of the Ogun State Directorate of Cooperative Services, representative of Oba Femi/Owode Local Government, leaders of the Central Community Development Association (CDCS), delegates from sister communities, and residents of the estate.
In her welcome address, the Chairperson (aka, Iron Lady) of the CDA, Mrs. Bolanle Olaniyi (pictured first on the left), described the meeting as a historic moment, reflecting on one year of leadership marked by unity, cooperation, and measurable progress.
She expressed gratitude to God and to residents of the estate for their consistent support, noting that community participation had been central to the achievements recorded since the inauguration of the current executive.
According to Mrs. Olaniyi, the CDA successfully facilitated the installation of adequate street lighting across the estate, improving safety and night-time visibility. She also announced the acquisition of a 500KVA electrical transformer provided by the Ogun State Government under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, in 2024, a development she said significantly improved power supply in the community.
The chairman further disclosed that the association undertook the rehabilitation and filling of potholes on major internal roads, while also strengthening security through the erection of gates in vulnerable areas and the engagement of trained security personnel equipped to respond to emerging security challenges.
She added that the community made notable progress in its financial performance during the year under review, expanded its partnerships with sister communities, and enhanced its collective bargaining strength, all of which have created opportunities for shared resources and long-term benefits for residents.
Mrs. Olaniyi urged members to remain vigilant and adaptable in the face of prevailing economic and security challenges in the country, stressing the need for transparency, innovation, and good governance as the community enters the 2026 financial year.
Presenting the management report, the General Secretary of the CDA, Mr. Kazeem Momodu, gave an account of the association’s administrative and membership status for the year ended December 31, 2025.
He disclosed that total membership of the Harmony Estate CDA, including residents at home and in the diaspora as well as tenants, stood at 146 as of the end of the year. He noted that the association remains open to new members who meet its financial and administrative requirements.
Mr. Momodu, however, expressed concern over low attendance at the AGM despite prior notifications through official communication channels, adding that the executive council is optimistic that participation will improve in subsequent meetings.
Both the chairman and secretary commended members of the executive council, committee members, and volunteers for their dedication, while appreciating the presence and support of government officials, CDCS leaders, and delegates from sister communities.
The dignatories present showered encomium on Mrs. Bolanle Olaniyi, the CDA Chairperson for her devotion and courage to shoulder the leadership of the Harmony Estate community.
Mr. Tunji Majekodunmi, Chairman, CDCS, particularly, praised her tenacity as she was said to be the only female Chairman among over 50 CDA Chairmen under his CDCS.
The AGM concluded with a call for renewed collaboration, unity, and shared vision as the Harmony Estate community prepares to consolidate its gains and pursue greater development in the 2026 financial year.
