ALTHOUGH BILLED TO LEAD THE OSUN APC GRAND RALLY, Professor Yemi Osinbajo Vice- President was conspicuously absent. Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola,minister of Internal Affairs also chose to be in surprise visit to Lagos when the mega rally was in session.
Nevertheless, the shine was not completely taken away from the final campaign outing nor the absence of the Abuja politicians made the rally less grandeur as Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), vice presidential candidate Kashim Shettima and other chieftains of the party were in Osun state yesterday, July 12, 2022, to drum support for the re-election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
Oyetola is the candidate of the APC for the July 16, 2022, Osun state gubernatorial election.
The presence of Tinubu and other chieftains of the APC including Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Governors Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu and others in Osun state was meant to provide a strong push for the re-election campaign of Oyetola.
But Rauf Aregbesola, the immediate past governor of Osun state shunned the event.
Thedispatch reported that in continuation of his open opposition to Oyetola’s second term, Aregbesola opted to pay a surprise visit to the Kirikiri Maximum Security prison, Lagos State in his capacity as the minister for interior.
The minister also released a statement signed by his media adviser Sola Fasure detailing what he was up to as Tinubu and other APC big wigs campaign for Oyetola in Osun State.
