BOLA TINUBU, THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken a swipe at opposition parties contesting the forthcoming Osun governorship election already billed as two-horse race.
The former governor of Lagos, who spoke at the Osun APC mega rally on Tuesday, described the PDP and LP as “mushroom parties”.
The Osun election is scheduled to hold on July 16.
Gboyega Oyetola, the incumbent governor, is the flagbearer of the APC, while Ademola Adeleke is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Other candidates are Lasun Yusuf of Labour Party (LP), Akin Ogunbiyi of Accord, and Goke Omigbodun of Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Flanged by his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, former governor, Borno State, Tinubu said: “I ask you to please do the same thing you did in Ekiti. Come out with your PVCs and vote massively for APC”.
“The voting is now in your hand. Be very vigilant. Be watchful. You will not do it in vain.
“Think about your children and vote accordingly so you can see the future. Come out en masse. Don’t mind PDP and other mushroom parties — parties like Labour; they will labour till they die. God will not make you labourers.
“You’re next. We will be here till tomorrow. We will come back here for victory dance. Look at the trajectory of our lives. We make promises and fulfil them. We are the ones upholding the party, the Buhari party. Don’t answer the naysayers.”
In another speech at the rally delivered by APC national Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu said his party would “not take any chances” on ensuring its victory in the Osun governorship election.
The APC chairman also urged members of the party in the state to ensure they remain united in order to secure victory for Gboyega Oyetola, who is seeking re-election.
“We are taking no chances; that’s why APC will stand out in its full strength to support our candidate.
“Like one of the speakers said a while ago, those who have got a fair mind will testify to the fact that governor Gboyega has done so much since assuming office in this state.
“We are here to canvass for your support and to appeal to you the genuine, proper APC members of this state to turn out en masse next Saturday, the 16th of July, 2022.
“We did it in less than a month in Ekiti. We are here to work and pray for a repeat performance, even a better performance. I understand this state has a higher population than Ekiti, so we expect higher return of votes from Osun state.
As a party, we’ll do all that is possible in the circumstances to give all the support our candidate and the APC in Osun will require of us,” Adamu vowed.
