Flu Drugs Are Effective At Fighting Coronavirus – Chinese Experts Reveal

Some medical experts in China have indicated that a flu drug is actually effective in treating coronavirus. It was said that the active ingredient in a Japanese anti-flu medicine called Avigan was tried on 340 patients with the killer disease in China.

Favipiravir is the active ingredient and patients who took it recovered quicker and showed greater lung improvement compared with patients who were not given the drug.

The source revealed that the drugs help to block the virus from replicating in the body and experts are working to confirm the claim.

It is stated that after results are confirmed, the pill will be given for free to patients.

According to the source, there has not been any new coronavirus treatment causing global pandemic and added that people with the mild infection can recover at home within a week.

It was disclosed also that almost 200,000 have been infected and 79,000 have perished as a result of the virus.

Favipiravir is known to be very effective against flu strains, yellow fever, foot-and-mouth- disease and other virus families.
The source further disclosed that 80 patients in Wuhan, where the novel coronavirus first emerged, have not shown any side effects while the medicine looks very effective in helping coronavirus patients to recover.

An expert stated that people tested negative after being given the drug within four days they recovered compared to the usual 11 days to recover from the virus.

X-rays also proved that there were improvements in the lung condition of about 9 to 10 patients who were treated with Favipiravir.

However, while the Favipiravir drug is been used, it has not yet been stated which type of Faviravar is used for patients.
