COVID-19: Awujale Defers 2020 Ojude Oba Celebration till 2021

THE ANNUAL OJUDE OBA ceremony 2020 has been put off by the Ijebu Traditional Council owing to the Coronavirus pandemic in Ogun state and Nigeria.


Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebu land made this known, through the Ijebu Regberegbe council platforms stating that all necessary arrangements towards celebrating 2021 version would commence early.


The Council disclosed that attires and other accessories should be kept till 2021 edition.


Oba Adetona appealed to those that are yet to make their payments as part of their contributions towards the Ojude Oba 2020 to do so.


The royal father noted that those who had made payments would excluded from payment of clothes but would still be expected to pay other dues, such as annual dues, social, welfare and insurance premium.

According to a letter that was signed by Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Adenuga on behalf of Awujale of Ijebuland and forwarded to the Ojude-Oba planning committee “The postponement order came from the first class monarch”.

The royal father said that those who have failed to make payment of 2020 dues will make full payment with 2021 dues. 

Awujale, however, appealed to residents to adhere strictly and follow safety measures to curtain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, Covid-19.


Awujale called on those with covid 19 symptoms to seek help quickly, adding that God would provide safety for his subjects as well as their families in the ancient town.
