FORMER HEAD OF STATE GENERAL YAKUBU GOWON (retd) has called on Nigerians to be patient and give President Bola Tinubu time to address the current challenges facing the country.
Addressing State House correspondents shortly after closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday,, Gowon made this plea.
He assured journalists that the government is working hard to improve the lives of its citizens and tackle the various issues facing the nation.
While acknowledging that leaders in Nigeria are often subject to criticism, Gowon emphasized that those in power are aware of the challenges at hand and are working towards solutions.
Drawing from his own experience as Head of State during the Civil War, he recalled facing criticism for being too slow in his decision-making but ultimately achieving success.
During the meeting, Gowon also discussed the challenges facing the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and stressed the importance of addressing issues within the regional body.
As calls for action and solutions continue to mount, Gowon's appeal for patience and understanding towards President Tinubu's administration
This comes as a reminder of the complexities and difficulties faced in governing a diverse and populous nation like Nigeria.
