GOVERNOR DAPO ABIODUN commends the Nigeria Inspector- General of Police (IGP) for his commitment to community policing and efforts in infrastructural development.
Speaking at the friendly visit of Mr. Olukayode Egbetokun, AIGP, who was in Ogun State on a3-day working visit to Ogun State Police Command, , the governor acknowledged the significant improvement in the intelligence capacity of the police force as a result of their dedication to building strong relationships with the community.
Governor Abiodun emphasised the importance of cooperation and technological advancements in modern policing. He praised the police authority for their continued innovation in these areas, which have strengthened the bond between law enforcement and the community.
Prince Abiodun specifically highlighted the impressive infrastructural development in the state command, including the new police headquarters building, the Technical Intelligence Unit, the Complaints Response Unit, and the Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun Multi-purpose Cooperative Hall. "These developments are a testament to the commitment of the police authority to providing a conducive work environment and enhancing their ability to serve the community."
Speaking at the ceremony, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Inspector -General of Police, expressed his vision of creating a professionally competent police force that is service oriented, rule of law compliant, and people-friendly. He emphasized the need for the police to respond appropriately and adequately to the dynamics of crimes in society.
Egbetokun also mentioned the ongoing infrastructural development across the state, announcing plans to create more police stations and Area Commands. He further added that additional mobile police squadrons would be deployed to ensure adequate security coverage throughout the state.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) also spoke at the event, where Governor DAPO Abiodun donated 25 patrol vans to the Ogun State Police Command, commending Governor Abiodun for his innovative idea to purchase drones for enhanced security. He commended the governor's commitment to ensuring the safety of the state and called on other states to follow suit.
According to IGP Egbetokun, the deployment of drones is expected to enhance the surveillance capabilities of the police, further improving the security of the state.
The IGP urged other governors to consider similar measures to prioritize the safety of their citizens.
With the combined efforts of the police authority, Governor Abiodun's administration, and the support of the community, it is hoped that the state will continue to see advancements in community policing, infrastructural development, and overall security.
