The Nigeria Inspector-General of Police (IGP) is scheduled to pay a three-day working visit to Ogun State and the Ogun State Police Command.
The visit, which is expected to strengthen security arrangements in the state, will take place from Tuesday, April 16th through Thursday, April 18th, 2024.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command, Abeokuta, Superintendent of Police (SP) Omolola Odutola, who made this known on the Police WhatsApp platform at the weekend, informed the Ogun State stakeholders that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamuru will host the august visitor.
On Day 1 of his visit, the IGP will begin with a courtesy call on the Governor of Ogun State. Following this meeting, he will also pay a courtesy visit to the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu III.
Day 2 of the visit will include several significant events. It will commence with an inspection of the Guard of Honor at the police state headquarters in Eleweran. Subsequently, the IGP will address police officers at the POWA Hall and also meet with various stakeholders who have gathered to welcome him.
Additionally, he will officially commission the newest building at the state headquarters, as well as the Technical Intelligence Unit and Complaint Response Unit, all located in Eleweran. Later in the day, the IGP will move to the OluKayode Egbetokun Multipurpose Hall in Oke ilewo and Event Center for its official commissioning.
During his visit, the IGP will also pay courtesy visits to the traditional rulers of Sagamu and Ijebu Ode, namely the Akarigbo of Remoland and the Awujale of Ijebu Land, Oba Sikiru Adetona,, Ogbagba II, respectively.
These visits aim to strengthen the relationship between the police force and the local communities.
On Day 3, the IGP will proceed to Ilaro to pay a courtesy visit to the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle before departing for Lagos.
To ensure comprehensive media coverage, the IGP's visit will be closely monitored, with media personnel allocated to each stage of his itinerary. This collaboration aims to provide accurate and widespread information to the public, emphasizing the importance of transparency and effective communication.
