Prof Musa Olomu stated in the internal memo No. FMCA/017/ dated March 24, 2020 and signed by one A. O. Vaughan, director of administration that each head of department should deploy measures to reduce the number of staff reporting for duty during this precarious time.
He enjoined them to prepare a roster for staff to manage the number on duty each day.
According to the internal memo all the wards, accident and emergency should be decongested immediately by ensuring promt assessment and early discharge of patients that have shown early recovery.
Other such measures are "confirmed cases of Covid-19 should be referred appropriately.
" Basic hygiene, especially regular hand washing with soap and water provided should be applied while the use of N95 nose mask and hand sanitizer should be used regularly especially while attending to patients."
The memo also stipulates that staff should avoid unnecessary gathering because social distancing is an effective measure to control transmission.
Consultants are enjoined to limit the number of patients seeing in the clinic and give long appointments on phone.
It also states elective surgery lists should be reduced to conform with the staff BB strength available.
The head of Public Relations department of the hospital told thedispatch that the hospital had not admitted any patient that shows symptoms of Coronavirus.
But our reporter observed that water and soap were stationed at some points within the hospital. Unfortunately, tissues rolls and hand sanitizer were not provided.
