OLG Primary School Holds 2023/24 Inter-House Sports 13 years after the last one

It was a captivating and fun-filled sporting activities and a convivial experience as OLG Primary School, Opeji, Odeda Local Government area of Ogun State held its 2023/24 Inter House Sports Competition last Thursday, after 13 years the last one was held in 2011.

While welcoming parents, staff and pupils to the sporting fiesta, the Head Teacherof the school, Mr. Babatunde Jimoh  expressed his joy and gratitude on the milestone, noting that the transformation being witnessed in the School was impressive and commendable since he was transferred to the School in 2021.

He commended the Baale of Opeji, Chief Alhaji Ganiu Adesina Rasak for providing necessary motivation and encouragement, and  also commended the staff for their dedication, commitment and passion, which according to him has repositioned the school, even as he praised the pupils for their zeal and sprit of sportsmanship in the Inter-House Sports competition.

Speaking at epoch making sports event, Baale Opeji, Chief Adesina Rasak urged the sports administrators in the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to use inter house sports in primary and secondary schools to discover sports talents for development of sports.

Baale Adesina Rasak was full of praises for the Ogun State governor, Prince DAPO Abiodun for providing the enablement for the return of school sports, saying in the past school sports was used to catch them young.

He applauded the great support and constant interventions of the  Opeji community in ensuring that the school meets its core mandate of nurturing the pupils to become great minds and future leaders.

Continuing, Baale Opeji, a school proprietor of Royal Regan Nursery and Primary School, Onikolobo, Abeokuta,who returned from the United Kingdom after six months vacation, said every child was a champion within him or herself, stressing that what was needed to inspire the  pupils to imbibe positive and healthy life values that would help them to be and remain determined in their pursuit of success and greatness.

He said, ‘to keep the body healthy, sports is very important’, explaning that sports is meant to teach an individual certain valuable life lessons like leadership, communication, team spirit, discipline, courage, and many other skills required for a successful life. 

The 2023/2024 Inter-House Sports competition was contested among four houses in the school. They included the Red House, the Yellow House,  the Blue House, which's Baale Ganiu Rasak Adesina House and the Green House.

The Blue House (Baale Ganiu Rasak Adesina House shared the first position with Pink House, while the second position  was share by Yellow House and Green House.

The old students race was won by Chief Abayomi Odunbaku, the Agba-Akin Opeji by defeating five other old pupils of the  nearly 50 year old primary school.

Other highlights of the sporting event which was witnessed by the parents and community members included a march-past by the four Houses, orange race, bag race, egg race and dressing competition. 

At the end of the keenly contested match pass competition, the Blue House emerged the 1st  the Green House took 2nd position, and Yellow House took 3rd positions while the Pink House came 4th.


Alhaji Alatise (pictured above), the Chairman,Opeji Community Development Council while commending the progress of the school so far thanked the headteacher for his vision and commitment to the school. 

He further expressed his gratitude for the contributions of Baale Opeji, Chief Ganiu Adesina towards the success achieved in Opeji so far.

 He, however, enjoined son's and  daughters of Opeji to contribute to the development of their father land.
